Burning of the Socks

The Burning of the Socks signifies the end of Winter, the arrival of Spring, and the start of the boating season in the Mid-Atlantic. We burn the old socks we wore to keep us warm in winter, and look forward to the barefoot days of spring and summer. We also gathering donations of new socks for the local unhoused population.

Led by GPSA resident Debbie Ruttenberg, join Gangplank residents at The Wharf Marina, POWYC members, and CYC (Capital Yacht Club) members to welcome the spring equinox! Bring new socks to donate, and bring an old wool or cotton sock to burn.
